Common Questions
Comprehensive answers to your most pressing concerns about our mediation services and process.
What is the difference between mediation and court?
We provide a private, confidential, and respectful environment to resolve disputes collaboratively. Unlike court, mediation is voluntary, participant-driven, and focuses on reaching mutual agreements that are in the best interest of all parties, including children.
Is mediation confidential?
Yes, mediation is confidential. However, there are legal exceptions. Information shared during mediation is protected from disclosure to third parties, including attorneys, unless required by law or if a party is at risk of harm.
How long does a typical session last?
Initial sessions typically last 90 minutes. Subsequent sessions are usually 60 minutes. The duration depends on the complexity of the issues and how the parties are progressing in their communication.
Can I bring my children to the sessions?
Children can be present in sessions if they are mature enough to participate. We often have a separate, child-friendly environment where they can play and be safe. We prioritize the emotional safety of all participants.
What if we can't agree on something?
If an agreement cannot be reached, we will document the process and the reasons for the disagreement. We will then provide a written summary of the discussions to help you make informed decisions about your next steps.
